    About

The visitor center sits at the Buffalo Bill Dam, six miles west of Cody on the road to Yellowstone. Visitors can watch a 15-minute film on building the dam and walk across the top of the dam, looking 280 feet down to the Shoshone River. Admission is free. It is open in summer only; the hours posted covered May 1 to September 30, 2026, so it is closed now.
