      About

Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument protects fossils from the Pliocene, including those of the Hagerman Horse. Fossils can be seen only at the Thousand Springs Visitor Center, which has fossil displays and ranger talks; no fossil excavation sites are open to the public. Separately, the monument's overlooks and trails, about nine miles from the visitor center, are open from sunrise to sunset. No entrance pass is needed.

      Owner: National Park Service.

      Getting there

      17970 US Highway 30, Hagerman, ID, 83332

The map point is the monument, not the visitor center. The Thousand Springs Visitor Center is on US Highway 30 about one mile north of downtown Hagerman and the old visitor center; GPS may be out of date. The monument's trails and overlooks are about 9 miles away on Bell Rapids Road.

The pin marks the site itself, not necessarily the entrance (42.79030, -114.94500). Apple Maps directions go to the street address instead. Show on our map · Google Maps · Apple Maps
