      About

The Mariners' Museum is a large maritime museum and park in Newport News. Its USS Monitor Center shows the Civil War ironclad through artifacts and a full-size replica, and an observation platform looks down on the Batten Conservation Complex, where the Monitor's turret, guns and steam engine are being treated. A clean lab upstairs lets visitors watch conservators at work. The 550-acre park and its five-mile Noland Trail are free.
