      About

Pioneer Tunnel is a horizontal drift mine run by a non-profit. Visitors ride 1,800 feet into the mountain in an open mine car, then walk with a guide at about 400 feet down. A separate steam locomotive ride runs about three-quarters of a mile around the mountain past the Mammoth Stripping. Both are first come, first served and seasonal; the prices on the rates page are in an image on the rates page and not stated here.
