      About

The Skagit River Hydroelectric Project supplies Seattle with power and sits within Ross Lake National Recreation Area. City Light and the North Cascades Institute run narrated Diablo Lake cruises on a glass-roofed boat that cover the dams and powerhouses, in a July to September season with extra fall dates. Around Newhalem, the Trail of the Cedars and Ladder Creek Falls trail are open daily year-round, and the falls are lit at night.

Run by: Seattle City Light, with the North Cascades Institute.

      Getting there

      Newhalem, WA

Newhalem is on State Route 20 in the North Cascades. Ladder Creek Falls trail starts at the parking lot across the river from Gorge Powerhouse; Trail of the Cedars is at the end of Main Street.
