    About

This Minnesota state park in Soudan preserves an underground iron mine that operated from 1882 to 1962. The 90-minute guided tour descends the shaft to the 27th level and continues by train to the deepest worked area. Tours were closed in 2024 and 2025 after flooding and returned for 2026 from May 23 to October 18. The park's own page loads its details by script, so it is not stated whether the underground physics laboratory is shown on any tour.

Run by: Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
